I went to spend the afternoon with a friend of mine.
We got pulled over by a cop and my friend didn't have insurance on the car (it's new to my friend - bought from a private seller)
That would have been the end of the story but my buddy's licence was also expired (couldn't take time off a new job to renew it).
Generally things didn't look good
My friend politely asked the cop to show mercy because like everyone who has lived through the recent bad times,my friend really needs a huge break from life (long story,not mine to tell).
The officer impounded the vehicle and issued two citations instead of dragging my friend off to jail.
Exactly the kind of break my buddy needed because this means my buddy still has a job to go to tomorrow instead of being stuck in a jail somewhere so today,I'm grateful for compassionate cops.
