You know someone truly cares about you when they CALL (not text) at exactly midnight to wish you a happy new year.
The call woke me up because my eye lids just couldn't stay open until midnight.
But I didn't mind being woken up.
I'm actually still smiling.
I feel special and today,I'm grateful for that midnight phone call!!!

Today I'm grateful for cards
I love cards.
Getting them and sending them.
To me,a card - hand made or bought shows that someone cares about me.
I know that person took the time to choose a card that reflects their sentiments toward me.
I know they chose a card to suit my personality and whatever situation we're in.
I have actually been known to keep the cards I get for years and years.
Today I came across a card that perfectly described the way I feel about someone and the second I finish typing this,I'll seal the card and mail it off to that person.
I hope the person appreciates it!
Its the perfect card for this person and I'm glad I came across it while out shopping the other day because it put into words the things I was feelings but couldn't quite express myself...cards have a way of doing that for us,don't they?
It's because of that very reason that today,I'm grateful for cards (and the people who write the beautiful words in them)

Today I'm grateful for chocolates
I have a sweet tooth.
It's REALLY bad.I crave sweets all the time.
I have never turned down chocolates and the easiest way to get me to do anything is by bribing me with chocolates.
A special someone gave me a huge box of chocolates last night.
Needless to say this person is in my good graces for the next month or so.
I'm tempted to gobble up the entire box in one sitting but I must practice self control.That's alot harder than it sounds.
So while I sit here fighting the temptation to pop another piece in my mouth,I have to say - today, I'm grateful for chocolates.

Today I'm grateful for this past christmas
Christmas 2011 will go down in history as my second fave christmas so far.
I expected the day to be boring - I actually thought I would sleep it away.
BUT the universe had other more interesting plans for me.
I got gifts - lots of them (a first for me).
I reconnected with some special people.
I got a surprise phone call from a good friend all the way in England.
It was a good day.
I felt spoiled.
I felt loved.
I felt cared for.
I felt - and still feel - REALLY blessed.
So,today I'm grateful for this past christmas (2011).

Today I'm grateful for "moving on"
Sometimes no matter how badly I want something to work out,the universe has other plans.
No matter how much I whine and plead, the universe says no.
Even when I threaten,it still says no.
Sometimes no means choosing an alternate route.
Sometimes no means giving up a certain dream.
Sometimes no means going back to the drawing board and starting all over again.
Sometimes no means walking away from people I genuinely care about - for both my sake and their sake.
Moving on doesn't mean I don't care,it simply means I'm growing and there is something bigger and better in store for me so today,I'm grateful for "moving on".

Today I'm grateful for skype
As a foreigner living so far away from home,I think it's possibly the best service on earth.
I have never REALLY appreciated skype until today when I got to see the newest addition to our rather huge clan....live on webcam in real time.
I'm still so giddy with joy that I can't even fully express the joy I felt (and still am feeling) at seeing my nephew LIVE,in real time - breathing,feeding,attempting to talk and even peeing on his mom (way to go kiddo;))
Since its christmas,it goes without saying that I am grateful for a lot of things and somewhere near the top of that list is a 5-letter word that starts with "s" so,today I'm grateful for skype.

Today I'm Grateful For B (& P)
Every once in a while I meet someone who truly inspires me - to be better, to work harder, to never give up.
Not too long ago I met someone who gave me hope.
Hope that I can be a better person.
Hope that I can love.
Hope that I can be loved.
Hope that I can connect with someone.
Hope that good things happen if you let them.
Things aren't always peachy between us.
But I hope this person knows I'm 100% in their corner.
I hope they know that I will always have their back.
I hope that in the short time this person has known me,they know that I care deeply for them even when we don't necessarily agree all the time.

Today I'm grateful for living in the present
I'm having one of those days.
A really good day.
There is no secret really other than the fact that I have decided to live in the present.
It basically means I am focused on what is happening RIGHT NOW,right this second as oppossed to worrying about what already happened or what is yet to happen.
It's a freeing experience I highly recommend for everyone so today I'm grateful for living in the present.

Today I'm grateful for answered prayers
Earlier this year I prayed hard that my child would be accepted into a charter school.
Entry is based on a lottery system and unfortunately there were no open spots in his class when I applied so he ended up on a waiting list.
I forgot about the charter school because there seemed no hope of him getting in.
Monday evening I got a call - a slot was available for him and he could start immediately.
This reminds me of something I read somewhere - Sometimes God says yes,sometimes no and other times He says be patient my child,I'm working diligently behind the scenes and will reveal all to you in due time. (I added the last sentence after "no").
As I sit here typing this,my little dude is enjoying his first day at the charter school so today,I'm grateful for answered prayers.
